AG Andy Beshear possibly running for governor

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- An email from Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear says the state’s top lawyer will make an announcement Monday “concerning the future of Kentucky”.

Could he be running for governor?

There are several reasons why that seems highly likely.

First, that email came from an account that isn’t connected to the AG’s office.

Also, reporters across the state have found meta-data online that show a campaign website.

It includes several hints that Nelson County high assistant principal Jacqueline Coleman could be Beshear’s running mate.

Beshear’s email says the AG will make his announcement Monday 9 AM at the African American Heritage Museum in Louisville.

Then he’ll take a two-day tour of the state with seven stops, including one in Lexington.

Beshear would be the first democrat to officially announce he’ll go up against Governor Matt Bevin though the governor hasn’t said whether he’ll run again.

Many political analysts expected the attorney general to make this announcement.

His father Steve Beshear is of course a former Kentucky governor.
