Accused Transy machete attacker pleads not guilty

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A not guilty plea on Friday in Fayette Circuit Court from Mitchell Adkins, the man accused of attacking students with a machete at Transylvania University in Lexington.

Investigators say in late April, the former Transy student stabbed two women at an on-campus cafe.

According to a witness, before the reported attack, Adkins asked someone about their political affiliation. When that person answered, “Republican,” Adkins reportedly said, “You’re safe.”

Adkins remains free on bond.
