Accident at Georgetown factory leaves one worker dead
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – A fatal accident in Georgetown has left one factory worker dead.
According to the Scott County Coroner, the accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday at the ORBIS Corporation facility on Commerce Court.
The coroner said the worker was working at a plastic injection molding machine when it locked up.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, a part of the machinery that weighed close to five tons detached and fell striking the press operator.
The fire department and EMS got to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.
The victim has not been identified, but the coroner said he was in his early 60s from Owenton.
The Scott County Coroner’s Office and OSHA are investigating the incident.
