AAU President, Former KHSAA Commissioner Dies
The National Amateur Athletic Union President died today in Lexington.
Louis Stout, 73, spent three decades with the AAU and became the AAU National President in 2011.
The Cynthiana native was also part of the Kentucky High School Athletic Association for more the 30 years.
In 1994, he became the first African American to serve as the KSHAA commissioner.
Current KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett says Stout is the reason the Kentucky program is where it is today.
Stout died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington. He had been there for about a week with an illness.
