AAA Expects Record-Breaking Road Travel This Thanksgiving

AAA predicts a record-breaking 42 million drivers will hit the roads to get to their Thanksgiving holiday this year.

Last year during the Thanksgiving holiday, there were 10 car crashes that resulted in 11 deaths in Kentucky alone, according to State Police.

Troopers said they will be in full force from Wednesday until Sunday.

They advise everyone to slow down, wear a seat belt and cut down on distractions to help keep Thanksgiving on the roadways as safe as possible.

AAA representatives also said to avoid groups of cars driving too closely on the highway, also known as "wolf packs."

They also encourage drivers to keep four or five seconds distance between vehicles during this highly-traveled weekend.

At the Bluegrass Airport, staff said there are 82 flights coming or going Wednesday.

They said the busiest times are expected to be between 5:30 and 7 a.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m.
