A quiet start to the weekend ahead of Sunday and Monday’s winter storm
A high pressure is bringing quiet weather for Friday night and Saturday. Clear skies will allow temperatures to drop to the upper teens Saturday morning with wind chills in the single digits. Saturday temperatures will warm up to around 30 in the afternoon with sunny skies.
Kentucky is preparing for winter storm impacts Sunday and Monday. The most recent data shows central Kentucky getting snow Sunday morning then freezing rain Sunday afternoon and evening. The I-64 corridor could see more than a quarter inch of ice between Sunday and Monday. Before the system exits the area Monday, we are expecting snow to return throughout the day on Monday. Power outages, heavy ice and snow are possible. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for all of central Kentucky for Sunday and Monday.
Behind the winter storm, Tuesday through the rest of the week, temperatures are frigid with highs in the teens and lower 20s and wind chills below zero.
