A pleasant day ahead with warm afternoon temperatures
A goldiocks forecast: not too warm, not too cold
Temperatures started a bit chilly, and we even broke a record low in Lexington. Temperatures dipped to 49, and the old record was 50 set in 1986. Despite that, we’ll warm to near 80 this afternoon, leaving us feeling nice and warm. It’ll be a great day to get outside with these warm temperatures, a light western breeze, and lots of sunshine. Friday will see a repeat of the forecast with a mild morning and afternoon temperatures in the low 80s.
Weekend outlook
We’re going to see a cold front slide over the Bluegrass on Friday. This won’t bring anything in terms of rain chances as our air is too dry, but it will keep temperatures from heating up into the weekend. UK football on Saturday will see a wonderful forecast in the 70s. You might need a light jacket if you plan to tailgate early, but you won’t need it by the afternoon. The only thing you might need is sunglasses and sunscreen. Temperatures will slowly warm a few degrees each day through Labor Day.
Next week’s tentative forecast
Trends for next week show a possible mid-week disturbance that could bring some unsettled weather and yet another cool down into more fall-like temperatures. There is still plenty of time for this to change, of course, but for now, we look to start off feeling closer to average in the mid-80s, then end our week below average, with some rain chances in between.
