A passing cold front brings rounds of rain and cooler temperatures
Widespread rain chances through Tuesday night
Rain will move through from the west as a cold front passes. Some may see thunderstorms and localized heavy rainfall. There are no major impacts expected, although in places where we see torrential downpours, ponding on roads and flash flooding could be possible. Rain will begin to fizzle out this evening, but will pick back up overnight in the southeast. Overall, most will see 1-1.5″ of rain through the day, with a few who may get closer to 2-3″.
Fall-like temperatures return
Winds following the cold front will turn out of the north, ushering in some cooler, drier air. This will cause low temperatures on Wednesday morning to reach the mid-50s. The second night after a cold front is often the coldest due to clear skies, and we will definitely see this. Thursday morning may have temperatures dipping into the low to mid-40s. Daytime high temperatures will be in the low-mid 70s through the weekend, with the potential for Thursday to see only the upper 60s.
A dry end to the week
Once rain moves out early Wednesday morning, we’ll be very dry. Clear skies will prevail for the end of the week and likely for the weekend as well. We may see some valley fog each morning, but other than that, we will see very little activity. It’s shaping up to be great Keeneland weather and a perfect fall weekend. Outdoor plans should be good to go for the weekend, although we may see some mud caused by our early week rainfall.
