A Mother’s Day miracle: a tail of puppy love

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Bluegrass Senior Dog Rescue says Honey collapsed on a stranger’s front porch, she had heatstroke. She was also pregnant and went into premature labor.

She had an emergency c-section but none of her 16 puppies survived. BSDR says Honey was depressed and wouldn’t eat.

A litter of puppies was surrendered to the Laurel County Animal Shelter.  BSDR kept them from being euthanized and now Honey is being their mom.

Honey and the puppies are coming together and acting like a family. Honey is taking care of the pups as if they were hers and BSDR says she doesn’t seem to be depressed anymore.

The puppies and Honey will be ready for adoption in a few weeks after the pups have been spayed and neutered.

BSDR is having an adoption event Saturday, May 16th at Tractor Supply Co in Florence, KY from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

BSDR notes that it does not do same-day adoption. If interested, complete an online application prior to visiting.

Applications are available at www.bgsdr.com
