A little bit of everything ahead

Meteorologist Jordan Smith has your Sunday evening ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

Lexington, Kentucky (WTVQ – ABC 36): Good Sunday evening everyone, it was a day that started on the cold side into the mid to upper 20s but we recovered nicely this afternoon into the upper 50s to near 60. Monday doesn’t start nearly as cold with mid to upper 40s and mainly clear skies. Tomorrow is a F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C day with temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s under a mostly sunny sky.

Scattered showers and storms move in after midnight tomorrow and will remain scattered across the area through Tuesday afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will be near 70 once again outside of rain/storms though.

A strong storm or two can’t be ruled out, but the severe threat stays to our west and north.

Slot0

Winds are going to be gusty Tuesday regardless of any storms with gust 30-40mph possible.

Slot2

The winds get even stronger Tuesday night into early Wednesday as our front gets closer with gust 40mph+.

Slot3

The front will move through central and eastern Kentucky mid to late morning with a line of rain and thunderstorms. A few storms can be strong once again, but the severe potential doesn’t look to be as high at this time like we were thinking so that is good news.

Slot1

Look at the temperatures spread across Kentucky as the front moves through. Temperatures will be into the 60s ahead of it in eastern Kentucky while western Kentucky sees temperatures dropping into the 30s with snow flurries flying. Temperatures continue dropping and we see snow flurries take over area wide into Wednesday evening.

Slot2

From 60s and strong thunderstorms to 30s and snow flurries in just a few hours, that is true Kentucky weather fashion. By Thursday morning we are into the mid to upper 20s. Wow!

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm team for updates on-air and online through it all! #kywx
