A foggy start to Christmas Eve with rain chances for Christmas
Foggy and mild to start Wednesday
Some dense fog advisories are in place for portions of the Bluegrass, mainly west of I-75. Even outside of these advisories, patchy, dense fog will persist through the late morning and could cause visibility to drop to 1/8 mile or less. This will be especially prevalent in low-lying areas. Use caution if you run into fog, turn off your high beams, and slow down.
By the afternoon, temperatures will be mild. North of I-64 will be closer to the mid-50s. To the south, temperatures will be closer to the 60s. We’ll be partly cloudy with more cloud cover to the south, and there we may see some light drizzle. Most of the Bluegrass will be fully dry through today.
Tongith as Santa makes his way in, some widespread rain will spread across KY. There may even be a few brief heavy rain showers. Santa is still expected to arrive on time and will have no issues navigating through the rain.
Christmas starts soggy with rain lasting through much of the weekend
Although there will be no white Christmas, we will have precipitation in the form of rainfall. Scattered showers will plague the area through the morning, becoming more isolated by the afternoon, with plenty of dry time in between. Temperatures will be in the mid-60s all around.
Friday will look very similar with on and off rain showers and mild temperatures. A passing warm front will cause temps to be near 70 for some. Saturday looks to dry out a bit more, with temperatures staying the same. Sunday, a very strong cold front will move through. This will bring rounds of rain, maybe a few rumbles of thunder, and falling temperatures through the day.
Next week starts below average
A shot of arctic air settled in behind Sunday’s cold front, causing dry and cold air to linger in the Bluegrass. Temperatures on Monday will likely be below average, possibly in the 20s. This will linger for at least the first half of the week. Late week trends are showing temperatures evening out a bit.
