It appeared torrential rains Thursday turned deadly in Anderson County.

Emergency crews were called to Rice Road near Salt River after witnesses called to say they saw a dark truck get swept away at around 11 p.m.

The road runs over the river, which is currently five to six feet above normal levels.

Crews from Frankfort and Lexington responded to help, but the high water and darkness made it too dangerous to aggressively search the area around the river.

Authorities say they do not know how many people were in the vehicle.

They say they will be back out to continue the search Friday morning.
