Airlines issue travel waivers in KY due to approaching storm

WASHINGTON (AP/WTVQ) – All major airlines have issued waivers for travel over the weekend, allowing passengers to re-book onto earlier or later flights to avoid a major snowstorm expected to hit Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia all the way up the coast to New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

The storm is expected to hit Kentucky late Thursday evening and could begin as freezing rain, creating a dangerous icing situation. The freezing rain will then change over to snow into Friday where 6-to-12 inches could fall, accompanied by 20-to-30 mile per hour winds.

Forecasters predict the heaviest snow will fall from Washington to Philadelphia.
