Traffic Alert: Beware of temporary off-ramp closure on I-64 in Carter County

FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. (KYTC) — Paving operations will require a temporary closure of the eastbound I-64 off ramp leading to the Industrial Parkway (KY 67) at Exit 179 in Carter County this Friday, Aug. 28, from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. Motorists will not be able to pass paving equipment on the single-lane ramp during this time, and must detour:

— Eastbound vehicles may continue east on I-64 to the nearby Exit 180 at Coalton in Boyd County, take the exit, turn left on US 60, then take I-64 westbound back to the Industrial Parkway’s Exit 179. The westbound I-64 off ramp, as well as the on ramps leading to I-64 from the Industrial Parkway, will remain unaffected.

The traffic changes and paving operations are part of a $10 million highway improvement project that will mean 13 miles of new blacktop for the entire Industrial Parkway in Boyd, Carter and Greenup counties, which is being under a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contract by Mountain Enterprises Inc. The contractor has until Nov. 1 to complete the project.
