Police cracking down on the roads for Labor Day

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – As part of a nationwide crackdown called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” the Lexington Police Department will be out in force through Labor Day to stop drunk driving and other traffic offenses.

The campaign, which began August 21, is part of a grant with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, says Lexington Police Lt. Chris Van Brackel.

According to the NHTSA, each year on average, more than 10,000 people die in accidents where drunk driving is a factor. Through the campaign, law enforcement departments across the country will crackdown on drunk driving and other traffic offenses.

ABC 36’s Paris Lewbel rode along with Lexington Police Sgt. Brian Martin Thursday night, as he patrolled for drunk drivers and other traffic offenses. Take a look at what they found in the video above.
