Lexington prepares for snowstorm

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – State and city officials say they want people to take precautions as a potentially dangerous snowstorm bears down on the bluegrass.

On Sunday, Mayor Jim Gray and other city officials spoke about the storm and how the city is preparing to help residents stay safe.  According to Police Chief Mark Barnard, extra crews will be brought in to help get hospital and other emergency personnel to work if needed.  There will also be extra police monitoring interstates and other major roadways to assist stranded motorists.

Barnard also says officers will be on the lookout for those who are homeless. The city’s homeless shelters will be opened all day so the homeless will not be out in these dangerous condition

There was a big rush at stores Sunday and many of the people we spoke to said they have no plans to journey out today, which is what all officials are saying: don’t go out, stay inside.
