Near-record COVID streak continues, Fayette crosses 11,000
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – If Lexington and Fayette County had any doubt whether the statewide coronavirus surge is impacting the county, Thursday removed it
According to the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department’s morning report Friday covering Thursday’s numbers, the county recorded 143 new cases — the third-highest day yet — pushing the total to 11,060. It took just nine days to cross another 1,000 case mark.
With two more deaths, the county now has lost 97 people to coronavirus-related causes.
So far in October, the county has recorded 2,463 cases and 21 deaths.
The county reached the following thousand-case marks on these dates:
- 11,000: Oct. 29
- 10,000: Oct. 20
- 9,000: Oct. 6
- 8,000: Sept. 22
- 7,000: Sept. 11
- 6,000: Sept. 2
- 5,000: Aug. 23
- 4,000: Aug. 10
- 3,000: July 28
- 2,000: July 12
- 1,000: June 10
- 1: March 8
Thursday’s numbers followed other near-record days Tuesday and Wednesday, meaning the county has had the three highest consecutive days since March.
