Reported social media scam and theft leads to chase in Hamburg area

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police say a scam posted on social media led to a robbery and chase in the Hamburg area late Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say kids posted something on social media to sell.  Police say when the buyer showed up to get the advertised item, the kids stole the money and ran.

Police say the victim chased the kids all around the Polo Club Boulevard-Man O War Boulevard area for more than an hour.  Police say they received multiple calls from people witnessing the chase.

Investigators say they caught the suspects near Costco just before 7:00 p.m.  The initial call came-in at 5:30 p.m.

Police say two kids and an adult face charges.  No names were released.
