Warm and sunny weather continues before weekend storm chances

Morning Clouds Give Way to Sunshine

Some areas, especially across northern Kentucky, started the day with a few isolated showers and extra cloud cover as a weak frontal boundary moved through the region.

As we head through the afternoon, that boundary continues to push out, allowing skies to clear and sunshine to return for most of the area. Temperatures are responding nicely, climbing into the mid to upper 70s, making for another pleasant spring day.

Clear and Mild Tonight

Conditions remain quiet into the evening hours with mostly clear skies across the region.

Temperatures will fall into the mid 50s overnight, setting up another mild and comfortable night across Central and Eastern Kentucky.

Summer-Like Warmth Builds Thursday

Thursday looks even warmer as high pressure and a steady southerly flow take hold.

Expect mostly sunny skies with temperatures climbing into the low 80s across much of the area. That puts us well above average for this time of year, and it will feel more like early summer than late April.

Thursday night will stay mild as well, with lows only dropping into the upper 50s to low 60s.

Rain Chances Return Late Friday into Saturday

We’ll stay dry to start Friday, but changes are on the way.

Clouds will begin to increase through the day, and by the afternoon and evening hours, we’ll see showers and a few thunderstorms develop as the next system approaches. Some of these storms could produce gusty winds, but the overall setup still has some uncertainty in timing and coverage.

Showers will likely continue into early Saturday before gradually moving out. There may still be a few isolated showers lingering Saturday afternoon, but conditions should begin to improve later in the day.

Nice Finish to the Weekend

By Saturday evening, things are trending drier with mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday is shaping up to be a great day with plenty of sunshine and temperatures returning to the mid 70s—a comfortable and pleasant end to the weekend.

Watching Early Next Week for Storm Potential

Looking ahead to early next week, another system will bring back the chance for showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday.

There are some early signals that Monday could bring the potential for stronger storms, so this is something we’ll continue to watch closely in the coming days.

Temperatures will cool slightly during this time, settling closer to average with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s.
