Warm weekend continues before showers return to start the week

A Beautiful End to the Day Across Central and Eastern Kentucky

Today turned out to be a really nice one across Central and Eastern Kentucky. We saw plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures, with afternoon highs climbing into the 70s for most of the area. It definitely felt more like late spring out there.

As we head into the evening hours, things stay quiet. Skies will remain mostly clear, and temperatures will slowly fall back into the low 50s overnight. Overall, a very mild and comfortable night ahead.

Near-Record Warmth Expected Sunday

If you liked today, you’re going to love tomorrow.

Sunday is shaping up to be even warmer, with highs pushing into the mid 80s across much of the region. With a mix of sunshine and some passing clouds, it’s going to feel very close to summer-like levels. In fact, some spots could come close to record temperatures for this time of year.

A light southwest breeze will help boost those temperatures, and while a stray shower or storm can’t be completely ruled out, especially toward southern Kentucky, the vast majority of us stay dry.

Showers Return Late Sunday Night into Monday

As we head into Sunday night, clouds will begin to increase, and temperatures will stay mild, only dropping into the mid 60s.

That’s ahead of our next system, which brings a chance for showers, and maybe even a few storms, late Sunday night into Monday.

By Monday morning and into the afternoon, we’ll see those rain chances increase, especially across northern and western parts of the viewing area. Not everyone will see rain, but scattered showers will be around through much of the day before gradually tapering off by Monday evening.

Even with the clouds and rain chances, temperatures will still be warm, with highs generally in the upper 70s to low 80s.

Warm and Slightly Unsettled Pattern Next Week

Looking ahead, the overall pattern stays warm and a bit unsettled.

Temperatures through the week will consistently run above average, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to the mid 80s. Some days could even challenge record warmth, especially by the middle of the week.

We’ll also keep small, on-and-off chances for showers and storms in the forecast nearly every day. However, it’s important to note that not everyone will see rain each day, and widespread, soaking rainfall still looks unlikely. In fact, some areas may continue dealing with dry conditions despite these periodic chances.
