Warm and Pleasant Weather Continues with Spotty Showers This Weekend
Isolated showers linger into Saturday before temperatures surge into the 80s across Central and Eastern Kentucky
Sunshine and Warmth to End the Week
Friday turned out to be a really nice day across central and eastern Kentucky. We saw plenty of sunshine, and temperatures responded nicely, climbing into the mid to upper 70s for many areas.
It definitely felt like spring is settling in, and even warmer air is just around the corner.
Light Showers Moving Through Tonight
As we head into the evening hours, we’ve started to see a few light showers move through the area.
These showers are pretty weak in nature and are tied to a fading boundary nearby. A brief isolated rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out, but overall, no major impacts are expected.
These showers will continue to move out through the overnight hours, leaving us dry by early Saturday morning.
A Mostly Dry Start to Saturday
Saturday will start off quiet with a mix of sun and clouds across the region.
As we head into the afternoon, we could see a few isolated showers develop, especially across the southern parts of the viewing area where a weak boundary lingers.
These will be very hit-or-miss and driven mainly by daytime heating, so not everyone will see rain. Any showers that do develop will fade away quickly by the evening hours.
Temperatures will be slightly cooler compared to Friday, with highs reaching the low 70s.
Warmer Air Returns for Sunday
Sunday is shaping up to be the pick day of the weekend.
As warmer air moves back into the region, we’ll see highs climb into the low to mid 80s under mostly sunny skies. It will feel much more like early summer across Kentucky.
Turning Even Warmer Next Week
Looking ahead, temperatures are only going up from here.
A strong ridge of high pressure will build over the eastern U.S., helping push temperatures well above normal:
- Upper 70s to low 80s early in the week
- Mid to upper 80s possible by mid to late week
Some locations could even challenge record highs as this warmer pattern settles in.
Daily Rain Chances Return
While it won’t be a washout, the pattern does turn a bit more unsettled.
Starting late Sunday night and into next week, we’ll have daily chances for isolated showers and storms. Coverage will vary quite a bit day-to-day, and not everyone will see rain, but it’s something to keep in mind.
Rainfall amounts at this point look relatively light overall, with no widespread heavy rain expected.
