Rainy start with warmer days ahead before active weather returns

Showers taper off by midday

Any remaining rain across the Bluegrass wraps up through the morning as the system responsible for recent showers moves out of Kentucky. A brief mix with a few snowflakes is possible in far northern spots early on, but warm ground temperatures prevent any impacts. By midday, conditions turn dry with skies gradually clearing from northwest to southeast.

Afternoon temperatures remain on the cool side, generally ranging from the mid 40s to mid 50s. A light northeast breeze will keep the air feeling crisp despite increasing sunshine.

Clear and cool tonight

High pressure settles directly over central and eastern Kentucky tonight, bringing clear skies and light winds. These conditions allow temperatures to drop efficiently, with lows falling into the low to mid 30s by Friday morning.

Warmer and sunnier Friday and Saturday

A noticeable warm-up arrives to close out the week. Friday features plenty of sunshine and milder air, with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 50s and low 60s across much of the Bluegrass. Friday night stays relatively mild, with temperatures remaining above normal.

Saturday continues the warming trend, though temperatures may vary depending on how quickly a weak front approaches. Some southern areas of the Bluegrass could approach 70 degrees, while northern areas stay closer to the upper 50s or low 60s. Even so, conditions remain pleasant and above seasonal averages.

Increasing rain chances early next week

Heading into early next week, a stalled front near Kentucky begins to bring more uncertainty. This boundary may serve as a track for several disturbances, increasing the likelihood of rain beginning around Monday. While early precipitation amounts appear light, additional systems could follow, keeping rain chances around into Tuesday and possibly beyond.

Temperatures are expected to stay warmer than normal overall, but the exact mix of rain versus any brief wintry precipitation will depend on the position of the front. Forecast details will become clearer as the pattern evolves.
