Arctic air settles in for the first part of the week

Cold weather advisories in effect

Several counties are under a cold weather advisory for Monday morning through 10:00 AM. Those counties are along and north of I-64.

This is as a cold front pushes into the Bluegrass, bringing frigid air and gusty winds. By late morning, winds will be gusting 25-30 mph out of the west.

Wind chill temperatures through the morning will be in the single digits and will stay there throughout the day. Those south of I-64 will feel closer to the teens.

With the cold weather advisory, be sure to wear proper clothing when heading outdoors. Layers and warm clothes will be needed: Coat, hat, gloves, etc. Also, remember to keep your pets indoors as much as possible.

The cold sticks around

Tuesday will start in the single digits. Feels-like temperatures will be near zero, with some dipping into the negatives. Be sure to dress appropriately!

Afternoon temperatures will struggle to make it out of the 20s. Winds will still be a bit blustery through Tuesday evening.

Back to average, but not for long

Wednesday will see afternoon temperatures in the low 40s. A cold front will push through and will cause more cold for the end of the week.

This front will also bring some rain showers and possibly a bit of snow mixed in. Most of us won’t see snow at all, and anyone who does won’t see any impacts.

The rest of the week trends dry and cold.
