Snow, rain, and then even more snow to end the work week

Friday morning’s snowfall

Light snow showers have been slowly moving into the Bluegrass throughout the morning. Temperatures are cold, with many in the teens and 20s, and wind chills are even more frigid.

Those cold temperatures mean that roads are below freezing, and any snow showers may cause slick spots to develop for the morning commute.

Most should have little issue getting out the door, but you’ll want to use caution anyway, as some could see that light coating of snowfall.

Another active system moves through

Friday afternoon will be mostly dry. We’ll be breezy and cold, with temperatures near average in the low 40s. By the evening, another system will move in. This will start as a wide band of rainfall, stretching across the Bluegrass by dinner time.

Temperatures quickly drop below freezing, causing a rapid transition from rain to snow. Snow could be heavy at times. We will continue to see gusty winds and the possibility of snow squalls. This could cause visibility to rapidly deteriorate and slick spots to quickly develop.

Snow continues to fall through Saturday as scattered snow showers, so use caution when heading out to any weekend plans. Minor travel impacts will be possible late Friday night through Saturday morning. Expect isolated snow showers through Saturday evening

Arctic air sticks around through next week

Snow and clouds move out of the Bluegrass heading into Sunday morning. Cold temperatures will last us through the weekend and into next week. Expect highs that struggle to make it out of the 20s and lows that dip down into the teens and single digits.

We’re looking mostly quiet for the first half of the week, with some cloud cover that moves through. Anywhere we see clouds, we will likely see flurries flying. But no accumulating or impactful snowfall is expected at this time.
