A winter preview with cold temperatures and a snowy afternoon

Snow chances through tonight

Through the mid-morning, we’ll see scattered flurries. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 9 am EST to 7 pm EST on Monday. This is due to a band of heavier snowfall that will sweep through the region this afternoon. This may bring a brief period of heavy/steady snowfall. There won’t be much in terms of travel impacts, as most roadways and soil temperatures are too warm for much accumulation. The main impact will be reduced visibility. Some elevated areas may see a dusting of snow. The best chance for meaningful snowfall will be east of I-75, where we may see 0.5″-1.0″ of snowfall. Also in this area, we could see elevated roadways or bridges becoming briefly slick. The impacts will be short-lived, and snow will clear by tonight.

Cold temperatures won’t last too long

Temperatures will be cold through the day with wind chills 10-15 degrees below actual air temperatures. This is thanks to winds gusting out of the west at 20-25 mph. So with afternoon temperatures in the 30s, we’ll feel closer to the 20s. Be sure to bundle up with a coat, gloves, and a hat. Tuesday morning will also be chilly in the 20s, but temperatures will slowly return to average through the week. Tuesday will be in the 40s. Wednesday and Thursday, we likely return to the 50s, with some 60-degree days by the weekend.
