Crisp fall weather takes hold heading into Halloween weekend

Cooler air settles in tonight with patchy frost possible, followed by sunshine for Halloween and a small chance of rain later this weekend.

Clouds Clear Out, Frost Possible Overnight

After a cloudy and damp start to Thursday, skies have started to clear across much of central and eastern Kentucky. A few pockets of drizzle may linger into the evening, but most of us will enjoy clearing skies before midnight.

As those clouds clear out, temperatures will take a dive into the upper 30s overnight, and some patchy frost could develop in cooler valleys and sheltered areas.

A Picture-Perfect Halloween Friday

Friday is shaping up to be one of the nicest days we’ve had in a while! Expect mostly sunny skies through the day with highs topping out between 55 and 60 degrees. Winds could be a bit breezy at times, gusting around 20 mph, but the sunshine will make it feel pleasant.

For your Halloween evening plans, it’ll be chilly once the sun sets. Temperatures will quickly fall into the 40s, so if you’re heading out for trick-or-treating, you’ll definitely want a jacket to go with the costume.

Slight Chance for Weekend Showers

Saturday will stay mostly dry for much of the day with some extra clouds working in during the afternoon. Another weak upper-level system will move through late Saturday and into Sunday, bringing a few light showers across parts of central and southern Kentucky. Temperatures this weekend will be sitting in the mid 50s.

Milder Weather Returns Next Week

After the weekend system passes, a stretch of dry and milder weather will settle in for the start of the new week. Sunshine will dominate once again, and afternoon highs will gradually climb back into the lower 60s by early next week — just about where we should be for early November.
