Showers stick around through Thursday before we dry out for the Halloween weekend
Widespread rain continues through Thursday before sunshine and cooler fall air return just in time for Halloween fun.
A Wet Wednesday Across the Bluegrass
The rain has been a constant companion across the region this Wednesday — and it’s not quite done yet. Many areas have already picked up anywhere from half an inch to just over an inch of rain, and more showers are expected as we move into the evening hours.
Temperatures stayed chilly today, topping out in the upper 40s to low 50s under thick, gray skies. With the clouds holding strong overnight, temperatures won’t fall much — expect overnight lows in the mid-40s. So, if you’re heading out tonight, keep the rain gear handy because those showers will continue on and off through the night.
Thursday: Scattered Showers and Cloudy Skies
Thursday will keep the soggy trend going, though the rain will be more scattered compared to the steady showers we’ve seen today. You can expect breaks in the rain from time to time, but keep that umbrella close — especially during the morning and midday hours.
Temperatures will remain cool, staying in the low to mid-50s during the day and dropping back into the 40s overnight. It’s definitely another jacket day as we wrap up the workweek.
Sunshine Returns Just in Time for Halloween
Friday is shaping up beautifully for any Halloween plans! After several days of rain and cloud cover, the sun will finally make its return. We’re expecting mostly sunny skies with highs climbing back into the mid to upper 50s — perfect fall weather.
If you’re heading out for trick-or-treating Friday evening, plan to bundle up a bit. Once the sun sets, temperatures will drop quickly into the upper 40s, so a jacket over those costumes will come in handy.
A Calm and Cool Weekend Ahead
Looking toward the weekend, high pressure builds in behind the departing storm system, giving us a stretch of dry, mostly sunny weather. Highs will stay seasonal — in the mid to upper 50s — and overnight lows will fall into the upper 30s and low 40s.
By early next week, we may see a slight warming trend, with highs returning to the low 60s as the sunshine continues. Overall, it’s looking like a quiet and comfortable start to November across Central and Eastern Kentucky.
