Chilly start leads into a sunny, cool stretch across Kentucky
Cold mornings continue with a freeze warning in place for Friday morning, but sunshine will stick around through the weekend.
A chilly Thursday morning kicks off a bright stretch of fall weather
It’s a cold start to our Thursday across the Bluegrass, with many of us waking up to temperatures in the 30s — and a few spots even dipping into the low 40s. A Frost Advisory is in effect through 9 a.m., so if you’re heading out early, make sure to grab that jacket and give yourself a few extra minutes to scrape off the windshield.
Sunny skies return, but another cold night is on the way
We’ll warm up nicely through the day with highs topping out in the upper 50s to low 60s, and plenty of sunshine to go around. Light winds will make it feel comfortable this afternoon — a picture-perfect fall day.
However, you’ll want to prepare for another chilly night ahead. Temperatures will drop back into the low 30s across much of central and eastern Kentucky. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, meaning widespread frost and even a light freeze are expected. Be sure to bring in sensitive plants and outdoor pets tonight to protect them from the cold.
More sunshine and mild afternoons ahead
After that frosty start Friday morning, we’ll enjoy several days of calm, dry weather as high pressure settles in across the region. Afternoon highs will stay in the low to mid-60s through the weekend, with chilly mornings and lots of sunshine. It’s a great stretch for outdoor plans or some late-season yard work.
By early next week, moisture begins to creep back into the area, bringing a small chance of scattered showers by midweek. Temperatures will hold steady in the 60s during the day and 40s overnight — a classic late-October pattern.
