Kentucky drops 8th straight SEC game in blowout loss to Georgia
ATHENS, Ga. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky lost their 8th straight game to an SEC opponent in a 35-14 loss at Georgia. In a game that Kentucky hung around for a bit in the first half, they were unable to do anything in the second half during Saturday’s game in Athens.
In his third straight start for the Wildcats, Cutter Boley completed 25/41 passes for 225 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, that came on fourth down. Running back Seth McGowan had 11 carries for 44 yards before getting banged up in the second half. He also lost a fumble in the game.
Kentucky receiver Kendrick Law had his best day as a wildcat so far with six catches for 64 yards and a touchdown this afternoon. Wildcat tight end Josh Kattus also had a receiving touchdown, his second on the season. True Freshman Cameron Miller was also a bright spot at receiver for the Wildcats, he had three catches for 41 yards for his first receptions of his career.
The Kentucky defense struggled dealing with the Georgia offense at times on Saturday. Georgia’s offense started each half with two straight touchdown drives. Kentucky’s defense did provide two interceptions during the game against the dawgs. Senior safety Jordan Lovett picked off Georgia quarterback Gunnar Stockton in the 2nd quarter and freshman Grant Guyton picked off Georgia quarterback Ryan Puglisi in the 4th quarter.
Kentucky will enter their second bye week of the season next week. The wildcats will return home on on Saturday October 18th where they will host Texas. The exact time is TBA but the game will take place in the evening.
