Temperatures return to average for the end of the week
A mainly calm day ahead
We started mild today in the upper 50s with a few clouds. Throughout the day, there’s a slight possibility that those in the southwest may see a few isolated sprinkles. However, our atmosphere is so dry that these will be brief, and rain may not even reach the ground. Almost all of us will be dry with partly cloudy skies and warm afternoon temperatures in the mid to upper 80s.
Warm to end the week
Temperatures will return to average by Friday, then as we head into the weekend, we’ll continue to see warming as high pressure builds on Saturday. This will cause lots of sunshine and temperatures to heat up to the upper 80s. Since UK football doesn’t see kickoff until 7:30 pm, we’ll be able to cool a bit to the low 80s once that game starts. Thanks to a good southerly breeze on Sunday, we may even see a return to 90. It’s a good reminder that it technically isn’t fall yet. If you were missing summer-like temperatures, be sure to soak it in this weekend.
Allergy and drought update
We’ll continue to see ragweed at high levels through the end of our week and into the weekend. Be sure to take allergy medications; it will help immensely. With dry air and no measurable rainfall in the forecast, we’re still looking at much of the area under some sort of drought condition. Dryness and warm temperatures can lead to elevated fire dangers, so be sure to use caution with open flames outdoors and check for burn bans in your county before having any outdoor fires.
