Sunshine Holds for Labor Day Before Midweek Rain Returns
Dry holiday weather gives way to scattered showers and cooler air midweek.
A Perfect Sunday Wraps Up the Weekend
Sunday brought another picture-perfect day across the region, with highs in the low to mid-80s and plenty of sunshine. It was the kind of day that felt more like early fall than late August — perfect for outdoor plans and wrapping up the weekend on a high note.
Labor Day Looking Mostly Dry
For your Labor Day, most of us will stay dry, but we can’t completely rule out an isolated afternoon shower, especially across southern Kentucky. Don’t let that stop your cookout or trip to the lake, though — sunshine will dominate for the majority of the day. Just remember to keep the sunscreen handy if you’ll be outdoors for long stretches.
Rain Returns Midweek
After a stretch of dry days, we’ll finally see some rain chances return as a cold front approaches midweek. Isolated to scattered showers develop Tuesday into Wednesday, but the best chances for more widespread rain arrive Wednesday into Thursday. Totals could range from a half-inch to an inch, especially across southern and eastern Kentucky. Unfortunately, while this helps, it won’t be enough to erase the ongoing drought conditions.
Cooler Air to Follow
Behind the front, another shot of cooler, drier air will settle in. Highs by late week dip into the mid-70s, making it feel even more like fall as we kick off September.
