Storm Chances Stick Around to Start the Workweek
Summer Heat Builds Again Through the Week
Stormy Sunday Afternoon Winds Down Tonight
We wrapped up the weekend with another round of pop-up showers and storms Sunday afternoon—most of them scattered, but a few packed a punch with gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and plenty of lightning. As we head into Sunday evening, we’ll hold on to the chance for a few more isolated storms before most of the activity winds down later tonight. Overnight, a stray shower or two can’t be ruled out, but many spots will stay dry with partly cloudy skies. Lows tonight will dip into the low 70s.
More Storms Likely Monday
Monday brings another chance for scattered showers and storms as a weak boundary lingers in the region and another disturbance slides through by late morning into the afternoon. Once again, these storms could bring locally heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Just like the last several days, we’re not looking at an all-day washout, but you’ll want to keep the rain gear close by if you’re out during the afternoon or evening. Highs will reach the upper 80s, and overnight temps will once again settle in the low 70s.
Summer Heat Rebuilds Midweek
As we move into Tuesday and beyond, the storm chances taper off just a bit—especially Tuesday, which may end up being the driest day of the week, but we will still see rain chances stick in the forecast for the next several days. Still, a few hit-and-miss storms are possible each afternoon as highs climb into the low 90s. Heat index values will push well into the 90s, with some spots feeling closer to 100° mid to late week. With the combination of heat and humidity, make sure to pace yourself outside, stay hydrated, and keep an eye on the radar for those daily pop-up storms.
