LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington-Fayette County health officials say they are investigating a salmonella outbreak tied to desserts served at several Ramsey’s Diner locations in the area.
According to a post on the health department’s social media, 10 confirmed cases have been reported so far, including:
-
4 in Fayette County
-
2 in Jessamine County
-
2 in Mercer County
-
1 in Fleming County
Officials say all the people who became ill had eaten at least one meal at a Ramsey’s Diner between June 17–20, and consumed either a custard-based pie topped with meringue or a cheesecake dessert.
Salmonella symptoms can appear 6–48 hours after exposure, typically lasting a few days but in some cases over a week.
The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says it is working with Ramsey’s and Missy’s Pies to properly dispose of any pies and eggs that were at the diners. Samples have been sent to the state health lab for further testing.
Anyone who dined at a Ramsey’s location during that time and is experiencing symptoms is encouraged to contact their healthcare provider.
