Locks For Addiction Memorial Fence vandalized
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A heartfelt tribute to those lost to addiction has been left damaged after vandals targeted the “Locks for Addiction” memorial fence in Lexington over the weekend.
According to organizers with the memorial, a number of locks were broken and debris was left scattered across the site. The fence is located near Oliver Lewis Way and honors individuals impacted by addiction, with each lock placed as a personal tribute.
Now, the group is offering a cash reward for information leading to those responsible and is asking the community for help—not just in identifying the vandals, but in cleaning up the damage.
“This is a sacred space for so many families. We shouldn’t have to clean up this destruction alone, especially in the summer heat,” said the group’s founder in a statement posted to social media.
Anyone willing to help is encouraged to reach out to the Locks for Addiction Memorial group directly.
