Lexington launches new task force to tackle traffic safety
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — City leaders in Lexington are stepping up efforts to make streets safer with the launch of a new Street Safety Task Force.
The group, led by Vice Mayor Dan Wu, held its first meeting Thursday to begin discussions around traffic cameras, crash data, and short-term safety solutions. The task force will focus on strategies centered on engineering, education, and enforcement.
Members include city council representatives, public safety officials, and community advocates, all working toward the shared goal of reducing crashes and improving travel for everyone in Fayette County.
The task force’s first official report is expected this fall.
