Nice stretch of weather ahead of rain and storm chances late week

Temperatures on Tuesday will climb into the low-to-mid 70s

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Skies will be clearing out nicely across central and eastern Kentucky as we roll into your Tuesday, setting the stage for a beautiful and seasonable spring day. Temperatures this afternoon will climb into the low-to-mid 70s across much of the area under partly to mostly sunny skies.

We’ll keep things quiet tonight as well with cool and comfortable conditions settling in. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 40s and around 50 degrees—perfect sleeping weather if you like to crack a window open.

Midweek Warm-Up
Wednesday will bring even warmer weather to the region, with highs nearing the upper 70s and potentially touching 80° in a few spots. It won’t be completely dry for everyone, though—a warm front lifting north from Tennessee could spark an isolated shower or storm, especially in far southern and southeastern Kentucky, closer to the KY/TN border and along the Hal Rogers Parkway corridor. Still, most of central Kentucky, including the Lexington metro, will stay dry.

If you’re looking to knock out some yard work or enjoy the outdoors, Tuesday and Wednesday are your best bets before a soggier pattern takes over.

Rain Returns Late Week
Our next system begins to take shape Thursday afternoon and will stick around through early Saturday. Expect increasing cloud cover Thursday with scattered showers and storms developing by late in the day. While the severe weather threat looks low at this time, localized heavy downpours will be possible Thursday evening into Friday, especially with a more organized wave of moisture expected to move through.

Rain could linger into the first half of Saturday, but drier air should begin to work in from the northwest during the afternoon. Sunday looks to be the better weekend day with more sunshine returning and temperatures climbing back into the mid-70s.

Looking Ahead
The warming trend continues into early next week with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s once again. Another round of showers and storms could be on the horizon as we head toward the middle of next week.
