RV park working to clean and restore property after floods

LANCASTER, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Right on the Garrard County line in a valley by the river sits the Camp Nelson RV Park.

“The problem with the river and the flooding of the river is the mud,” owner Marlena Embry said.

She says they’re no stranger to floods, but this time around, things looked a little different.

“The ice this time made a problem for the first couple of days,” she said. “This time we had a delayed start because mother nature decided to throw some snow at us with some ice.”

Embry says about 50 RV owners staying on the property had to evacuate and most likely won’t be able to return to their original spots until the end of this week.

“We only get sunlight on an average four hours a day in the winter, and it just takes a bit for the non-sunny areas to get our snow gone,” she said.

While the cleaning process for many Kentuckians is underway, Embry encourages people to pick up any trash they see outside.
