Central Kentucky Dance Theatre presents ‘Cinderella’
LEXINGTON, Ky. ( ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Central Kentucky Dance Theatre is preparing for another ballet next weekend for it’s spring gala.
This year they will be performing an original rendition of ‘Cinderella’.
Performers have been practicing for several weeks, after dealing with winter break, snow and sickness.
Leah Copley, the Artistic Director, says everyone has been working hard.
She also spoke about the difference’s between this ballet and the original story of Cinderella that people are used to.
“I want children to fall in love with ballet,” said Copley. “And so we’ve created five new characters that are quite honestly hysterical, that will keep you laughing throughout the show, but we’ve also kept the beauty of classical ballet and the love story.”
The ballet will be on Saturday, March 1st at Frederick Douglass High School. Show times are at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
