Northern Kentucky resident dies from rabies
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – One person in northern Kentucky has died from rabies according to a report from the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
KDPH says the source of the exposure has not yet been identified, but it may have come from outside the U.S. during travel.
While person to person transmission of rabies is rare, health officials are “working together to ensure that people who have been in contact with the individual are assessed for possible exposure.”
KDPH is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention , Northern Kentucky Health Department and Ohio Department of Health on the investigation.
