Fantastic Friday forecast ahead of weekend warm-up

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Friday! We are tracking really nice conditions to close out the workweek. After the last few morning with near record lows, we were only a bit warmer this morning. However, we will be warming up closer to where we should be this afternoon.

Fantastic Friday Forecast
High temperatures should reach the mid-80s for most of the region with a few upper 80s possible in spots. Heading to any of the area high school football games this evening? You couldn’t ask for a nicer forecast, kickoff temperatures in the low 80s before falling into the low-to-mid 70s by the end of the game.

Summer Sizzle Settles In
Temperatures will continue to climb this weekend. Afternoon highs return to the upper 80s near 90 on Saturday before reaching the low 90s in many spots on Sunday. We are expecting fantastic late summer weather for the weekend. There is a low chance of a stray shower or two on Saturday, but most locations will remain dry. The heat really builds early next week where afternoon highs will make a run into the mid-90s in many spots. The humidity will be increasing as well. The heat index will likely be in the upper 90s, and possibly low 100s. There will likely be a pattern chance once again by Labor Day weekend which should drop temperatures back into the 80s.

Mainly Dry Through Early Next Week
As previously mentioned, there is a small chance of a stray shower or two on Saturday. Outside of that the weekend looks dry. Early next week starts dry as well. Isolated rain and storm chances return by the middle of next week. These storms will be popping up during the peak daytime heating into the evening hours. Models don’t have a good agreement on the exactly how much moisture will be present, so as of now we are keeping the chances on the isolated-to-widely scattered end. None of the days through the middle of next week are expected to be washouts.

Labor Day Look Ahead
There will be frontal system set to push through the region late next week into your Labor Day weekend. This will likely bring more widespread rain and storm chances before knocking our temperatures back towards the mid-80s for the holiday weekend.
