Man arrested after running over a woman’s legs

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A man has been arrested after officials say he ran over a woman with a stolen vehicle.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a disorder on Cemetery Road just before midnight on Saturday.

Through an investigation, deputies determined Sherril Padgett entered a woman’s home and took the keys to a truck.

Officials say there was a scuffle before Padgett took control of the truck and ran over the victim’s legs as he fled the scene.

Deputies found Padgett operating the vehicle on US 27, were he fled from responding officers and was taken into custody near Somerset.

The victim was treated at the scene by EMS.

Padgett faces several charges, including attempted murder, leaving the scene of an accident, theft by unlawful taking and operating a vehicle under the influence.

He is currently being held at the Casey County Detention Center.
