Breezy and seasonably cooler on Wednesday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy Wednesday! Thankfully our severe threat didn’t materialize on Tuesday but we aren’t done with the remnants of Beryl. Post-Tropical Cyclone Beryl will be passing to our north today. This will give us breezy-to-gusty winds with sustained winds of 10-20 mph and wind gusts as strong as 30-35+ mph. Early Wednesday morning Blue Grass Airport in Lexington reported a wind gust of 40 mph. There will also be a few rain chances today, particularly early in the day. Nothing heavy is anticipated.
As Beryl exits the region, we will clear the skies out overnight. This will allow cool and comfortable air to settle in by your Thursday morning. Most locations will start the day on Thursday in the low 60s, with a few 50s possible in the valleys. We will return near average temperature wise by the afternoon hours as well. There is small chance for a few pop-up showers and a storm or two across central Kentucky, but most areas stay dry.
We will heat up heading into your weekend. Temperatures on Friday will reach the low 90s before we climb into the mid-90s for the rest of the weekend. There will be some storm chance across far northern Kentucky by the end of the weekend, but things look to stay isolated here locally. Sunday and Monday will easily reach the mid-90s as humidity starts to build across the region as well. Typical summer heat, yes, but we can’t rule out some upper 90s early next week either.
Rain chances should increase by the middle of next week as cluster of storms will be moving through the Ohio Valley. We will need the rain as parts of central Kentucky are still running well below average rainfall wise. With the hot temperatures expected across the region this weekend and early next week, drought conditions will likely continue to develop.
