Heating back up on your summer solstice

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Happy summer solstice! We are tracking warmer temperatures today for the start of the summer season. Skies remained mostly cloudy-to-overcast yesterday which limited our temperatures. Skies will remain mostly sunny-to-partly cloudy today which will allow temperatures to return to the low 90s. This isn’t record warmth but the heat will be noticeable once again today.

The hottest temperatures of the week will move in Friday and Saturday. Afternoon highs will likely push the mid-90s for most of the region. We will get close to daily record highs but I think most of us will stay below those numbers.

The end of the weekend will bring some rain and storm chances.  A weak frontal boundary will be isolated-to-scattered showers and storms Sunday into Monday. This will also give us some slightly “cooler” temperatures Monday through Monday night. This doesn’t last long though as we will be warming up again by the middle of next week.

Stay with the ABC 36 Storm Team for more updates.
