LPD hosts annual Cops and Bobbers
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Police Department hosted its annual Cops and Bobbers event on Saturday.
The free event was held at the Gainesway Park fishing pond.
Community members were able to fish with officers and enjoy free food.
There was even face painting, a bouncy house and games for children to enjoy.
Officer Brandon Means says the event is about community building.
“You know I want officers to be seen as approachable, supportive figures and not just authority figures,” said Officer Means. “Sometimes we’re your neighbors, your friends and even sometimes your family.”
Officer Means says today’s event was also about community policing, getting to meet the people in the community, get to know them and have the community get to know the officers.
