14th Annual Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The 14th Annual Kentucky Sheep and Fiber Festival at Masterson Station Park this weekend.

With live animals, vendors, food trucks and live demonstrations of sheering there was plenty for attendees to see and do.

Sarabeth Parido, the director of the festival, says the reason behind it is to educate people on where their fiber comes from.

“If they’re into fiber arts, they’re into knitting and crocheting or weaving,’ says Parido. “Giving them a few extra steps in the process, they get to see local producers that are right here in central Kentucky raising the animals, raising the fiber and getting it from here to there. We also have vendors and small business owners that are taking the product, dying it, spinning it and turning it into finished product.”

The festival wrapped up at 5 p.m.

If you weren’t able to make it to the festival this year, it will be back next year on the third weekend of May.
