Second Annual Free Diabetes Expo

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Fayette County Diabetes Coalition held it’s second annual Free Diabetes Expo on Saturday.

The event began at 10 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Office.

The goal is to teach people how to prevent or manage diabetes.

“We want to take those action steps to get awareness out there for anybody that can see the symptoms,” said Maranda Brooks with the Cooperative Extension Office. “Maybe it’s a neighbor, maybe it’s yourself and you recognize those symptoms and you need to take action and this is just one step towards that.”

The event featured more than 25 vendors with cooking demonstrations, primary care and education services, vision screenings, Q & A with experts, free Covid-19 and flu vaccines, free diabetes testing and much more.

The event wrapped up at 2 p.m.
