Nice conditions for Valentine’s Day

Meteorologist Dillon Gaudet has the latest in your full ABC 36 Storm Team forecast

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone, we have nice weather for the day ahead. Afternoon highs will reach the mid-50s for most under mostly sunny skies. A southwesterly breeze will arrive this afternoon and help bump up those temperatures. How about when you head out the door for those evening plans? Still staying nice with temperatures falling into the low 50s and upper 40s after sunset.

Overnight temps won’t be quite a cold overnight thanks to the southerly wind. Thursday morning lows will range from the mid-to-upper 30s, with a few of the valleys dropping into the low 30s. Thursday will be very nice through most of the day as well. Temperatures spike into the mid-to-upper 50s during the midday. There is a small chance of a few showers a weak clipper system passes to our north. Don’t expect any heavy rain but don’t be caught off guard by a few showers either.

However, eyes are on a system moving into the region Friday into Friday night. This will bring a rain & snow chance to the region. There is still uncertainty around the exact track and timing of the system. Many areas can expect rain showers transitioning to snow showers later in the day Friday into the nighttime. This is another challenging forecast due to the exact location of the diving line between the rain and snow threat. Therefore, there is uncertainty around who will see the chance of a light accumulation.

There is high confidence in a drop in temperatures Saturday. Afternoon highs will struggle to the reach the low-to-mid 30s. If there is any light accumulation on the ground Saturday night into Sunday, you can expect upper teens and low 20s to start Sunday morning. This cold snap will be brief, as we are expecting temperatures to return to slightly above average into early next week.
