Warm temperatures before a cold front
Meteorologist Jordan Smith has a look at your Sunday evening forecast!
Lexington, Kentucky (WTVQ – ABC 36): Good Sunday everyone, it has been a phenomenal day across the Bluegrass with full sunshine and high temperatures hitting the mid 60s. We do that even better over the next few days before BIG changes blow in here Thursday into Friday. Temperatures to start our Monday will be down into the upper 30s to low 40s so grab the jackets before heading out.
By the afternoon we rebound into the low 70s under a partly sunny sky so you can shed those jackets. But winds will be gusty with gust 30-35mph.
Temperatures to start our Tuesday (Election Day) will be milder into the upper 50s to low 60s. A few sprinkles or a stray shower can’t be ruled out either.
By the afternoon we will be into the low to mid 70s with a partly sunny sky and the threat for an isolated shower. Winds remain gusty with 20-25mph gust.
So take the rain jackets with you as you go to vote just in case, but most will stay dry. Starting out Wednesday will be mild as well with upper 50s to low 60s to start with still an isolated shower chance.
Wednesday afternoon is when we can get very close to record highs across the area with mid to upper 70s. I can’t even rule out a few 80 degree readings with enough sunshine. Also, just like Tuesday the chance is there for an isolated shower but most stay dry. Winds will also remain very gusty with 30-35mph gust once again. Get ready to rake those leaves.
Rain showers become likely Thursday as our cold front starts to enter the state.
Rain becomes widespread Thursday night into Friday with some heavy rains showing up.
Behind this rain comes VERY chilly air for Friday into the upcoming weekend. Highs on Friday stay in the upper 40s to low 50s.
In the meantime, enjoy those NICE temperatures the next few days.
