Storms Cause Flash Flooding in Clay County
Horse Creek in Manchester was one of many streams and rivers to top its banks Wednesday after thunderstorms produced heavy rainfall Wednesday morning.
Some Manchester residents were forced to use alternate routes for Highway 80, which had numerous portions covered in water.
Some residents could not get back to their homes after the creek also flooded Bald Knob Road in Clark County. Drivers were afraid the road had washed away and waited for the water levels to drop Wednesday evening before crossing.
The area typically floods one to two times a year.
