Narcotics, inattention cited in Frankfort wreck
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Franklin Co. Sheriff believes narcotics and inattention were contributing factors in a wreck on inbound Versailles Road in front of the O’Brien Gates Chevrolet Buick GMC on Monday.
According to the Sheriff, a car driving inbound on Versailles Road entered the emergency lane just prior to the dealership, hitting the end of a trailer on a parked truck unloading vehicles at the dealership. Neither the driver (Nathan Barnes, 35, of Frankfort,) nor the passenger (Amanda Watts, 30,) of the car were wearing seatbelts, according to the Sheriff. The Sheriff also says two children were also in the car (ages 1 and 2,) but only one was in a child seat.
Barnes along with both children were taken to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. He is currently listed in stable condition, while the children were treated and released. Watts was flown to UK hospital with serious injuries. She is now in stable condition.
The Sheriff says the investigation is ongoing, and that charges will follow.
